Barbara Charone, who is a member of Todd Boehly’s takeover bid to buy Chelsea, has explained that she hopes Blues manager Thomas Tuchel stays at Stamford Bridge for a long time.
American businessman Boehly is one of four shortlisted candidates to buy the London club. In fact, it was reported a week ago that rival bidders considered him the man to beat.
He has assembled a consortium that includes figures such as Jonathan Goldstein, Hansjorg Wyss and Daniel Finkelstein.
Another member of the Boehly-led bid is Barbara Charone, a music industry public relations manager.
The Telegraph told her about her involvement in the consortium, and apparently she was targeted as someone who could be a non-executive director of the Bridge if the offer is accepted.
Chelsea fan Charone also gave a rave review of current manager Tuchel as part of the interview.
“I’m obviously very excited to be a part of the future if it’s successful,” she explained.
“I think we’re in an amazing place. We have a manager who has been through a lot and is coming out like a saint. Not just as a football manager, but more importantly, I think, as a person. It’s just the way he handled it all. Even when I’m asked about the war. He’s just amazing, and I hope he’ll be a manager for a long time.
Chelsea must build around Tuchel
No doubt the Blues hit the jackpot by appointing Tuchel in January 2021.
The 48-year-old German boss is one of the most prestigious managers in the world, so trying to find a replacement would be a daunting task.
A feature of Roman Abramovich’s reign has been a constant change of manager, but the new owner needs to stick with Tuchel for the long haul and find stability.
He has done an immense job at the helm of the club, especially in these uncertain times during the imposed sanctions. He deserves the chance to develop and build this team the way he wants.
